The stranger — another short read! ⠀

It’s less than 200 pages, and I can see why it’s on so many “must read” lists. The book was released in the first half of the 20th century, originally written in French and later translated into English. The lead character Meursault has essentially no feelings/emotions, which is why he’s outcasted as a stranger to his world (hence the title). ⠀

The story is filled with dark satirical humor which makes sense for the era. The author, Camus, gave the reader room to think about and speculate. There’s essentially no background information on Meursault and why he is the way he is when he commits a crime, goes to jail, and is “in love”. The novel makes you think — and if you’re a critical thinker you’ll enjoy it. If you’re not, then you may not enjoy the book.
